Woman who left school at 17 built a beauty empire

Kate Stewart, from Liverpool, left school without any qualifications when she became a single parent to her daughter, Caitlin, now 15. After deciding she wasn't going to "claim benefits and have more kids', the determined young mum studied for a business and management degree while working as a secretary. Working her way up the career ladder, Kate went on to own Liverpool's Heritage Market while expanding her business and making other wise investments.

Now 33, the mother-of-three thinks nothing about splashing £250,000 on diamonds or buying designer clothes. The multi-millionaire appears on Channel 5 show, How The Other Half Lives which airs tonight. Pictured left, Kate with her one-year-old twin boys Graydon and Grayson. Left inset, Kate struggles to hide her glee as she buys expensive jewels. Right, Kate wearing designer clothes, heels and accessories.
