One of the biggest mosques in Russia has today opened after a decade of construction work, with President Vladimir Putin and foreign dignitaries attending the ceremony.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas were the guests of honour at the unveiling of the 20,000-square metre mosque in the Russian capital.
"This mosque will become an extremely important spiritual centre for Muslims in Moscow and the whole Russia," Putin said in a televised speech.
