UK hostage freed in Yemen

A Briton held hostage in Yemen for 18 months says he is "delighted and relieved" to be safely back home with his family.

Bob Semple was released in a military operation by United Arab Emirates (UAE) forces based in the port city of Aden.

He was working as an engineer in the oil industry when he was kidnapped by al Qaeda forces in February last year, according to reports.

The 64-year-old said in a statement: "I am delighted and relieved to be back home safely and to be reunited with my family after such a long time.
