Political directors of six world powers, Iran to hold nuclear talks in Vienna
The political directors of the six world powers (five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) will hold a one-day round of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program with the Iranian delegation in Vienna on Thursday.
They will discuss the progress reached at trilateral consultations of Iran with the EU and United States that were held on October 14-15.
The negotiators said on arrival in Vienna that Iran’s nuclear enrichment program parameters and the schedule of lifting sanctions against Tehran — both unilateral and those specified by the UN Security Council resolution — would be the key items on the agenda.
A diplomatic source close to the negotiations told TASS that the ministerial meeting is aimed at accelerating the work on the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear program. However, the sides seem to be uncertain on whether they will meet the deadline — November 24.
The meeting of the six powers’ political directors in the Austrian capital will show how far the sides have advanced on the path towards reaching an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in Vienna on Wednesday. "For our part, we have always said that the most important thing for decision making now is the political will," he said. "It will not take much time to find out whether it exists or not," he added.
