Detective’s family killed

The family of LAPD Detective Ernest Allen, who was killed when he crashed into a cement-mixer in Beverly Hills, is suing.

Allen's mother and his two children are filing a wrongful death lawsuit, claiming Loma Vista Drive is dangerously designed and has inadequate signage.

The lawsuit names the cities of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, the owner of a cement truck, and its driver.

Allen, 52, was killed on May 9 when his car collided with a concrete mixer. It's the same stretch of Loma Vista in which LAPD Officer Nicholas Lee was killed in March.
