Members of several French taxi unions took part in Wednesday's Europe-wide strike against a new US mobile app, Uber, that according to taxi drivers will cost them much of their client base. Uber allows its customers to hail taxis online and even pay for their services via the app, but it also sidesteps regulations, making it possible for unlicensed drivers to drive customers. More than 30,000 taxi drivers in London, Paris and Berlin went on strike, and in Paris they even hurled eggs at colleagues who ignored the protest.
