Ukrainian's interim Defense Minister offered Tuesday his resignation over the management of the Crimea crisis but the Parliament turned it down, according to televised parliament proceedings.
"Some do not like the actions I am taking," Igor Tenyukh said speaking about the Crimea crisis adding he offered his resignation as, "our actions in Crimea are misunderstood".
Meanwhile, the offer was turned down by Parliament after just 197 lawmakers – 29 short of the 226 needed – approved it.
Admiral Igor Tenyukh was sworn as Ukrainian interim Defense Minister on February 27, following the revolution that saw previous government and president down.
"Nearly 80 percent of Ukrainian soldiers on duty in Crimea surrendered to Russia", Ukrainian lawmaker, Gennadiy Moskal said Tuesday. All these soldiers say they do not recognize Ukraine and that voluntary changed side on Crimean favor, Vatan Party lawmaker said.
Before that, a Defense Ministry official Aleksandr Rozmaznin said that the percentage of surrendered soldiers was nearly 50 per cent. The claims come one day after Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council decided to withdraw Ukrainian soldiers from Crimea.
