Israel incapable of negotiation with Palestinians

Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi says Tehran is against the resumption of talks between Israel and Palestinians as Tel Aviv is incapable of dialogue, Press TV reported.

The Israeli regime's structure is based on occupation and therefore it is incapable of negotiating and reaching an agreement with Palestinians, Araqchi said on Sunday.

He added that the Tel Aviv regime is not ready to pay the price for peace due to its warmongering nature.

Iran believes that developments in the Middle East should be addressed based on the principles of justice and human dignity, considering the real roots of the crisis and trying to resolve it based on asserting the rights of Palestinians and other regional nations.

He further criticized the US peace plan for its failure to address the main and fundamental issues of al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the right of the Palestinian refugees to return to their homeland.

Araqchi reiterated that lasting peace in the Middle East would be established only through the settlement of major issues including putting an end to the occupation of Palestinian territories, giving the right to the Palestinian people to determine their own fate, the return of all refugees to their homeland and establishing a united Palestinian government with al-Quds as its capital.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Friday that the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israel have agreed to meet and prepare for the resumption of talks.

"We have reached an agreement that establishes the basis for resuming direct final status negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis," Kerry said, adding, "The agreement is still in the process of being formalized."

He gave no details of what had been agreed so far.
