Thousands call for president's ouster in Egypt

Anti-Morsi protests were marred by clashes between his supporters and foes, killing at least 5.

Hundreds of thousands of protesters joined mass rallies on Sunday and demonstrations against President Mohammad Morsi across the Egyptian capital of Cairo, SIA reports citing foreign press.

Thousands marched from Mustafa Mahmoud Mosque in the well-off residential area of Mohandeseen west of Cairo toward Tahrir square, the icon of the 2011 revolution against former President Hosni Mubarak.

A host of opposition figures led the march, including former UN nuclear chief Muhammed El Baradey and Al-Wafd party leader Al-Sayed Al-Badawi.

Marching towards Tahrir, the protestors carried posters of Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammad Badie with their faces crossed out.

In Abbassiya square, east of Cairo, more than 2,000 protesters marched toward Tahrir Square, brandshing a 30-meter long Egyptian flag.
