U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to visit Turkey this weekend, according to diplomatic sources. The visit comes as it was revealed that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s long-expected meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama will take place on May 16.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and his U.S. counterpart discussed the fragile situations in Iraq and Syria during a telephone call March 30. The top U.S. diplomat visited Turkey in late February and met with Davutoğlu, Erdoğan and President Abdullah Gül.
