One police officer was killed after a suicide bomber hit a police station in Istanbul's Sultangazi district, broadcaster NTV reported today.
At least five people were injured, NTV said. Wounded people were taken to nearby hospitals and remained in critical condition.
Initial reports said a suicide bomber detonated the explosives he or she was wearing in the station's front yard, between the outer gate and the building's main entrance.
An unexploded hand grenade was also found in the police station after the attack.
Istanbul Police Chief Hüseyin Çapkın has confirmed the blast was the result of a suicide bombing
