Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has chaired the first meeting of the Organizing Committee of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games that will take place in Baku in 2017.
During the meeting the head of state highlighted the importance of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games for the whole world, including the Islamic world.
President İlham Aliyev noted that Islamic Solidarity Games will again demonstrate Azerbaijan as a country with a great reputation in the world, noting that Azerbaijan will do its best to hold the sports event at a high level.
In the near future Azerbaijan will host the prestigious Formula 1 Grand Prix and the World Chess Olympiad, the president said, adding that the organization of these competitions in Azerbaijan will serve further promotion of the country in the world.
Addressing the meeting, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games Mehriban Aliyeva said the sports event will be held at a high level and justify the confidence of the Azerbaijani people.
Mrs Aliyeva noted that events held so far have demonstrated the power and organizing ability of Azerbaijan, stressing that the Islamic Solidarity Games will be written into the history of independent Azerbaijan as its next victory.
