The Russian national anthem was given its second airing of the night at the Baku Aquatics Centre on Friday as Maria Polykova showed that it is not just the men who rule in the diving pool.
The 18-year-old won gold in the women's 1m springboard about an hour after team-mates Ilia Molchanov and Nikita Nikolaev finished first in the men's synchronised 3m springboard.
Polykova was delighted with her medal and said: "I have already won the European championships (3m synchro, Poznan 2013) but I think this is even better for me, a more important victory because it's my first major European win at senior level."
