"I believe and hope this sports event will make every Azerbaijani feel special pride. Azerbaijan will be known in the world as a young, dynamic country," Baku 2015 chief operating officer Simon Clegg said.
"The European Games will broadcast in different countries around the world.. At tomorrow’s opening ceremony, we’ll be greeting hundreds of athletes. These athletes represent 50 countries of Europe’s Olympic family. About 50,000 spectators will gather in the Olympic Stadium tomorrow. The first-ever European Games will broadcast in many countries, from North to South America, from China to New Zealand, Australia, from Japan to India, etc. We did all we can so that [Baku-2015] sports awareness could reach all regions of Azerbaijan. By carrying the flame throughout the country, we created the Olympic spirit in people," added Simon Clegg.
