"We will have a lot to offer to Europe, and I hope we come away from Baku with a medal," said Dušan Simonović, President of the Montenegro Olympic Committee.
"The Water Polo team will be a favourite for a medal. I remind you that the team was European champion two years ago. If all goes according to plan, it will be a very competitive competition."
The Montenegro NOC did not release the names of the 55 athletes, but the majority will be in two sports - Athletics, with 30 competitors and Water Polo, with 13. There will be four judokas, Boxing and Swimming will both have two representatives and Karate, Cycling, Shooting and Taekwondo will all feature one Montenegro athlete.
Andrija Popović, Montenegro's Chef de Mission in Baku, believes that the country will gain at least one medal.
"We believe that we will reach a medal at these historical European Games," Popović said.
"I am convinced that the event in Baku will look great because Azerbaijan has taken all the measures to ensure the Games are at a high level."
