"We never apply tactics. We compete to be the best. We are preparing for Baku in this spirit," Mr. Borkai said.
The President said Hungary will be strong at the Canoe Sprint events at Baku 2015.
"The (Canoe Sprint) competition at the European Games perfectly fits into the preparations for the Olympic qualification at the World Championships. So we will have a very strong team in Baku," Mr. Borkai promised.
Hungary collected most Canoeing and Kayaking medals in Olympic history with 77 total, including 22 gold medals, which ranks third behind the Soviet Union's 29 and Germany's 28.
Hungary already has 143 confirmed quotas for the Baku 2015 European Games.
That number could increase up to 200 by the start of Baku 2015.
While the focus for 2015 is qualifying for Rio 2016, Mr. Borkai said Baku 2015 will receive special attention as well.
"We place a space emphasis on the European Games as it is a defining multi-sport event of the European Olympic movement," Mr. Borkai said. For us, Baku will be an excellent main rehearsal for the 2016 Olympic Games."
Mr. István Simicskó, Hungary's State Secretary for Sports and Youth, said that it was a good time for Europe to start up a continental multi-sport event. And he believes the European Games will fill the role honourably.
Mr. Simicskó knows his countrymen will be at their best in Baku.
"I have no doubt that the Hungarian athletes will perform according to our traditions in Baku, one year before the Rio Olympics," Mr. Simicskó said.
