The Azerbaijani football team (U-19) has vied for the 11th place against Belarus at the Granatkin Memorial tournament.
The fulltime ended in a draw 1-1. At the 70th minute, Ruslan Nasirli brought Azerbaijan forward, but Hleb Rassadkin scored an equalizing goal at the very 90th minute, thus saving Belarus from defeat. Everything was decided in a penalty shootout, in which the Belarusians proved to be more successful. The final score of the match was 6:4.
The Azerbaijani team successfully started the tournament by beating Lithuania (3-2) and playing with ten men in a draw (1-1) against the Czech Republic. However, after losing to Ukraine (0-2) in the final round of the group stage, our team was third in the group and could fight only for the 9th place. It was followed by failure in the match against Greece (0-1), as a result of which our team had to fight for the 11th place.
