"We are very pleased with the work" Blatter said in an interview with
AFFA. "The preparatory process completely satisfies FIFA. I had no
doubt about it, since what is being done to promote sports and in
particular football in Azerbaijan convinces of it. If all countries
wishing to carry out world championships will work as Azerbaijan, then
FIFA will face no organizational problems.
We are also very pleased with the AFFA proposed socio-cultural projects
related to World Championship of 2012. The fact that AFFA invited
parents of future mundial participants, as well as teams of other ages
from these countries to Azerbaijan will make the championship even more
colorful and interesting. These and other ideas of yours make us happy.
We look forward to the tournament to see the realization of all these
projects. Hosting the World Cup among girls in this region with such
cultural activities will encourage the development of women's football
around the world.
We thank the President of Azerbaijan and AFFA management for the
tremendous support to this issue. FIFA is glad to have given Azerbaijan
the right to host the championship. I want to urge your fans to support
the development of women's football in the country. In this case, men’s
football will develop too because it will be a strong incentive for

Joseph S. Blatter also expressed his attitude to the fact that President Ilham Aliyev declared 2012 as the year of sports.
"I have friendly relations with the head of your State Ilham Aliyev. I
am well aware of how much he makes for the development of sports in the
country. The fact that the year of the 2012 World Cup in Azerbaijan was
called the "Year of Sports", demonstrates how much importance your
country attaches to the upcoming tournament. I would also note that this
solution will help not only football but other sports. That's all for
the people, for sport - it is also the culture. So I think the
