MCHT holds a meeting

The Ministry of Communications and High Technologies (MCHT) held a meeting dedicated to the strengthening of discipline and effective organization of activities.

The meeting was also attended by chairmen of the Republican Council of Veterans of Communications Workers and Republican Committee of Independent Trade Union of Communications Workers.

Associations and enterprises of the ministry joined the meeting via visual communication. Acting Minister of Communications and High Technologies, First Deputy Minister Iltimas Mammadov drew attention to the dismissal of Ali Abbasov from the position of Minister of Communications and High Technologies by the order of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated November 12, 2015.

It was noted that the sphere of communications and high technologies is of great importance in the economy and society, and is also one of the priority areas for the country’s sustainable development.

It was also informed that the foundation of the modern and independent development of the communication system in Azerbaijan, as well as the foundation of the current development was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Iltimas Mammadov said that the prospects for the development of communication, which has travelled a long road of development, defined by the "National Strategy on Information-Communication Technologies for the Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2003-2012)" approved by the order of national leader, it was during these years the government has rendered much attention and special care to the ICT field, purposeful, comprehensive and consistent work has been carried out.

Today, technical policy implemented in the sphere of communications and is based on the results of the extensive work done towards the execution of state programs adopted in connection with the implementation of this strategy, at the same time is reflected in the state programs on development of communication and information technologies in Azerbaijan Republic, approved by relevant orders of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who continues the political course of national leader. It is thanks to the care and support of the head of state, normative legal acts and state programs adopted in this field, much work has been carried out towards the development of communications and high technologies in recent years, and good results have been achieved. Achievements in this area and the country’s success take its worthy place in the international rankings.

Azerbaijan occupies a worthy place in the global space club, has steady progress in the space industry, has special achievements in this area thanks to the activity carried out as a result of personal attention and under the direction of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Today the country has its own telecommunications satellite Azerspace-1 and remote Earth observation satellite Azersky, as well as continues the implementation of satellite projects for the following years.

Moreover, today the world experience is thoroughly studied to meet needs of the society for modern communications and information technologies at a high level, the possibility of introducing in the country the most advanced innovations in the industry is carefully studied. Nevertheless, despite the definite and proper development of technical policy in the sphere of communication, investigation is under way at the Ant-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General Office for serious violations of the law by individuals of structural and subordinate bodies of the ministry in connection with the facts of abuse of power, embezzlement, forgery, and under the court decision they have been charged and chosen arrest as a preventive measure. It was considered important to draw conclusions from current events, maintaining normal labor harmony, and to organize work activities more responsibly.

Chairman of the Republican Committee of Independent Trade Union of Communications Workers and chairman of the Youth Association of the ruling Yeni (New) Azerbaijan Party Seymur Orujov, chairman of the Republican Council of Veterans of Communications Workers Isfandiyar Ibrahimli and veteran communications worker from Barda Vahid Sharifov made speeches during discussions. In the speeches, it was noted that all communications workers – members of Trade Unions and New Azerbaijan Party from youth to veterans, from workers to heads, each communications worker will unite more closely around the President of the country, should try to work hard to justify the confidence given to this area for many years by the head of state.

At the end of the meeting Iltimas Mammadov gave relevant instructions to associations and communications agencies on the implementation of radical and positive change in their activities, strict observance of labor and financial regulations, keeping in the center of attention complete preparation of communications facilities for the winter season, as well as preventive measures on all directions, ensuring prompt consideration of citizens’ appeals and other matters.

It was also noted workers of communications and information technologies will celebrate their professional holiday on December 6, the exhibition and conference Bakutel 2015 will take place in Baku on December 2-5. In addition, it was underlined that "The Month of High Service" will be organized from 20 November to 20 December and all communication associations and enterprises will switch to a special mode of operation.
