According to the order of President of Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on marking 140th anniversary of Azerbaijani National Press a regional conference has been held in Ganja. The heads of leading outlets and members of the city community attended the conference, SIA informs.
The participiants also attended an opening of Ganja Press House .
The head of the Ganja City Executive Authorities Elmar Valiyev made opening remarks and greeted participiants of the conference.
Deputy Chief of the Public Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Arastun Mehdiyev spoke about the earliest history and long road of modern Azerbaijani press. He noted the care of government to the press as well, future plans and duties on this issue. Arastun Mehdiyev has also given recommendations on this issue.
Azerbaijani Press Council Chairman Aflatun Amashov highlights a glorious history of Azerbaijani press, established by "Ekinci" newspaper which founded by Hesen Bey Zerdabi. He noted that the 140th anniversary of Azerbaijani Press is a gift presented to our nation by Azerbaijan’s independence.
"Country-wide marking of 140th anniversary of Azerbaijani press is not given value only to Hesen Bey Zerdabi and "Ekinci", it should be estimated as a sight to glorious history of press throughout decades." added Mr Amashov.
