World-known physicist, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and the Russian Academy of Sciences Roald Zinnurovich Sagdeev was awarded gold medal of Azerbaijan Engineering Academy (AEA).
An award presentation ceremony was held today in AEA in this regard.
The event was attended by Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov, Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov, Minister of Defense Industry Yavar Jamalov, President of the National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Akif Alizadeh, first vice-president of SOCAR Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh, President of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) Jahangir Asgerov, Director of the Institute of Information Technologies of ANAS Rasim Aliguliyev and other high-ranking officials.
Speaking about the work done in the development of space industry in Azerbaijan, AEA President, academician Arif Pashayev, emphasized Roald Sagdeyev’s contribution in this direction.Arif Pashayev said Roald Sagdeev’s services in Azerbaijan are highly appreciated and the gold medal is the manifestation of this value.
In his turn, Roald Sagdeev expressed his gratitude for the attention noting successful implementation of activities in space industry in Azerbaijan. Saying Azercosmos has become a model of successful projects, he stressed the importance of Azerbaijan among space countries.
Noting the advantages of the country’s telecommunications satellite, the scientist expressed readiness to continue to provide all possible assistance to the Azerbaijani people.
Then Chairman of Azercosmos OJSC Rashad Nabiyev gave information on the company’s activities, the work done and forthcoming duties.
At the end of the event, the participants discussed the current state of development and priority directions of the space industry in Azerbaijan.
