The average monthly wages of employees working in information and communication technologies (ICT) sector in Azerbaijan are still high. The State Statistical Committee (SSC) of Azerbaijan has published statistics on the number of employees and wages in the economy. The SSC reports that as of February 1, 2015, the number of hired employees in the economy of Azerbaijan amounted to 1511.4 thousand people, of which 881.6 thousand people are working in the public sector, 629.8 thousand people - in the private sector.
1.7 percent of hired employees were involved in ICT sector, 22.3 percent of the hired people were involved in education, 18.7 percent - in trade and maintenance of motor vehicle, 12.5 percent - in industry, 8.6 percent - in health and social services, 3.8 percent - in professional, scientific and technical activities and in other areas of economy.
In January of 2015, the average wages of the hired employees in the economy of Azerbaijan amounted to AZN 444.4.
"Average monthly salary in mining industry, finance and insurance activities, information and communication, professional, scientific and technical activities and construction was higher," said State Statistical Committee.
