‘’Freedom to Shusha’’ video presented in Baku

An event dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of the occupation of Shusha by Armenian armed forces was held at the International Press Center in Baku on May 5.

It was organized by the Council of State Support to NGOs under the President of Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani town of Shusha was occupied by Armenian armed forces on May 8, 1992.

While speaking at the event, chairman of the council, MP Azay Guliyev regretted that the Azerbaijani people still have to mark the anniversary of the occupation of Shusha.

He also accused the OSCE Minsk Group of the lack of progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

A video presentation prepared as part of the "Freedom to Shusha" campaign was viewed.

The calls for the liberation of the ancient Azerbaijani town were voiced at 22 world languages. In his speech at the event, Guliyev said that the purpose of this campaign is to provide the world public with full and objective information about the occupation of Shusha by Armenian armed forces.

Member of the working group preparing the video presentation "Freedom to Shusha", editor-in-chief of qhtxeber.az website Senan Najafov said that it is planned to widely distribute this video presentation on the Internet, to create the website "Freedom to Shusha!" in five languages, as well as to hold rallies in a number of countries as part of the campaign.

"An information war, which should be conducted at a professional level, plays an important role for Azerbaijan as a country living in a state of war and 20 percent of which is occupied by Armenian armed forces", he said.

MP Ganira Pashayeva stressed that the video presentation "Freedom to Shusha!" must be demonstrated in many world countries.

"At present, some international organizations deliberately demonstrate indifference to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, so it is necessary to send the appropriate appeals to international organizations as part of the campaign" he added.

During the event, Senan Najafov was elected coordinator of the working group of the "Freedom to Shusha" international campaign.
