The 18th Azerbaijan International Exhibition and Conference 'Telecommunications and Information Technology'-BakuTel 2012 continues in Baku.
As part of the exhibition, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made a call to the airplane of Azerbaijani Airlines.
The head of state spoke to one of the champions of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, who was aboard the plane, en route from Baku to Paris.
"The President was pleased with the quality of communication, and expressed his satisfaction that one of the cellular companies of Azerbaijan has introduced mobile communication services on AZAL airplanes", sources in Azerfon (mobile operator, brand name Nar Mobile) have said.
Azerfon, AZAL and Swiss OnAir launched the project on provision of the whole range of communication services to passengers on 3 April 2012.
Mobile communication is regulated via the sole overland station in Amsterdam. The services will be available during the flights of any range except for the period of departing and landing.
