Two Azerbaijanis accused of spying arrested in US

Two Azerbaijanis are among 11 people accused of spying in the US. Azerbaijanis Sevinj Tagiyeva and Shovkat Abdullayeva are among those accused of illegally selling various US technologies to Russia.

Court also brought official accusations against senior officials of Arc Electronics Aleksandr Fishshenko, Aleksandr Posobilov, Victoria Kleybanova, Lyudmila Bagdikyan, Anastasia Dyatlova and Svetlana Zagona. The indictment says that Arc Electronics is producing electronic equipment for road safety. But the company organized illegal sale of double-purpose products to Russia and the persons involved in the operation were supposedly engaged in spying.

Russian Foreign Ministry has stated that it is a crime, it is not connected with intelligence activity.

The Azerbaijani embassy in the U.S states that the Embassy is examining the citizenship of Azerbaijanis arrested by the FBI on suspicion of espionage.
