The festival was attended by ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Turkey, United States, Russia, Latvia and Belarus, representatives of the embassies of Ukraine and Japan and other guests.
First of all, local and foreign guests visited the Heydar Aliyev monument in the center of the city and then the Heydar Aliyev Center. Chief of the Goychay region executive power Mansur Mammadov informed the guests about the life and creative activity of Heydar Aliyev, the guests viewed his photos and watched the film about him.
The opening ceremony of the Pomegranate Festival followed. The event participants watched the exhibition and art compositions on pomegranate along the whole Heydar Aliyev avenue. The guests also tested different kinds of pomegranate juices. Women in national dresses also presented national dishes with pomegranate.
Azerbaijani music is heard in different parts of the region all day long. The festival will continue with the concert organized by famous producer Murad Dadashov and finish with fireworks.
Though pomegranate is planted in Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the United States and Latin America, Goychay is the only city where all kinds of pomegranate can be found.
