Russia intends to further contribute to the negotiation process to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said at a press conference on Monday following the talks with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan.
"An important topic of our talks is strengthening of stability in the Caucasus," Medvedev said, stressing that he exchanged assessments on the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh with Sargsyan.
"I am personally convinced that the fair resolution of the conflict can only be achieved through political means," RIA Novosti quotes Medvedev as saying.
He recalled that in recent years, much has been done in this direction. "Russia intends to further contribute to the negotiation process as co-chair of the Minsk group (OSCE) and through direct contacts between the leadership of Armenia and Azerbaijan," Medvedev said.
