Custodial
restraint has been removed from the system of the criminal sentences in
Some 17 facilities
exercising this sentence have been abolished, chief of the Justice Ministry’s
Penitentiary Service Madat Guliyev said.
He said the documents of 1767 persons detained there had been submitted to
courts and their sentences had been commuted.
Madat Guliyev said the documents of 600 prisoners had been submitted to the
Main Department of the Penitentiary Service. Negative reply was given to 200 of
them. The rest 400 will be released early.
Chief of the service said according to the plan, the number of penitentiaries
will be increased from 13 to
Madat Guliyev said than 230 employees of the Penitentiary Service were
dismissed within 10 months of this year.
Guliyev said 30 percent of them were dismissed for shortcomings.
