Britain's new ambassador, Peter Bateman, has arrived in Azerbaijan.
He is to submit his credentials to the Azerbaijani president in the next few days after which he will officially take up office.
Peter Bateman is replacing Carolyn Browne, who completed her mission in August.
Peter Bateman joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1984. He has served in Tokyo (twice), Berlin and La Paz.
Before his appointment to Azerbaijan, he was the UK's ambassador to Luxembourg.
