Azerbaijan proved itself to be a very futuristic, visionary country- Daphna Ziman Edwards

Daphna Ziman Edwards of the LA-based charity, Children Uniting Nations, is in Azerbaijan to plan a global conference on sex-trafficking.

"We are here to talk about how we can better take care of our children globally, particularly children who are victims of trafficking, including sex trafficking and human trafficking," she told journalists in Baku.

"Azerbaijan and its government are interested in joining the United States of America and the rest of the world and to do a better job because now $91bn a year are made on the sex trafficking of juveniles. This is unacceptable because each one of these girls is somebody’s daughter. And your first lady really cares about this," the US activist said.

"One of the main reasons that I am here is to plan a global conference on sex trafficking. We work with many countries but we are glad that Azerbaijan is one of the countries taking the lead in trying to find a solution.

"I think Azerbaijan has proven itself to be a very futuristic, visionary country and I think in terms of peace and the way they want the world to come together is really the way it should be, and I am very proud of the way the leadership in Azerbaijan has made a point of making themselves number one and also in terms of the way they think the world should come together in the Middle East."
