Mugam evening and chamber music concert were held as part of the III Gabala Music Festival organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on 29 July.
The chamber music concert held in Qafqaz Resorte hotel featured chamber works by Italian composer G. Donizetti, Nemorino's Romance from his "L'elisir d' amore'' as well as "Bolero", "Tarantella", "La Regata Veneziana", Before competition", "Competition", "After competition" by G. Rossini and "Katari" by S. Cardillo.
Soloists of the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theatre Sabina Asadova (mezzo-soprano) and Farida Mammadova (soprano), graduate of Italy’s Opera Art International Academy after R. Debaldi and M. Monaco Javid Samadov (baritone) and graduate of Italy’s Ozino Music Academy Azer Rzazade (tenor) performed at the concert.
The festival proceeded with concert of laureates of the Mugam-2011 TV contest. Miralam Miralamov, Sabina Arabli, Mustafa Mustafayev, Kamila Nabiyeva, Mammad Najafov, Ariz Huseynov and Nigar Shabanova performed at the Mugam Evening.
The mugam singers were accompanied by tar player Sahib Pashazade, kamancha player Togrul Asadullayev, canon player Chinara Mutallibova, balaban player Mehman Nuriyev, drum player Emin Jabrayilov and oud player Shafa Karimov. Nearly 1,000 local and foreign spectators watched the concert.
The performance of young mugam singers was met with strong applause.
III Gabala Music Festival will be officially opened on 30 July. "New Russia" State Symphonic Orchestra led by Yuri Bashmet will perform in the gala concert to be held on this occasion.
