Nicole Scherzinger split up with Lewis Hamilton over his refusal to settle down with her.
It is the fourth time the couple have broken up during their seven year relationship. The 36-year-old singer is said to be "heartbroken and devastated" about the breakdown of their relationship.
The Sun has reported that her decision was due to the 30-year-old Fomula One star refusing to marry her.
"They’d been fighting for months but things had got much worse," a source told the paper.
"She finally had enough. Nicole knew Lewis had no plans to marry her, she's completely gutted and feels lost about her future.
"They spend so much time apart that things just became untenable."
The former X Factor judge, who is currently performing in London in Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats, is usually based in Los Angeles.
It has been reported that the couple were struggling to maintain a long-distance relationship as Hamilton is based in Monaco.
Scherzinger has been supported by her family, with her mother Rosemary and elderly grandmother flying to London from Hawaii to be with her.
She has previously spoken about how she would not wish a long distance relationship on "anyone".
