The excitement of Sherlock’s return for a one-off special in 2015 just about managed to detract from the stonking gaffe in the promo picture for it.
BBC confirmed the return of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman by posting a tweet of the pair in period costume with the tagline: ‘#221back #Sherlock #notkidding’.
But in the shot, showing Sherlock and his sidekick Doctor John Watson decked out in Victorian gear, including bowler hats, the main man himself appeared to be missing part of his left shoulder.
And of course pesky Sherlockians spotted it instantly.
Fans were quickly speculating about whether this could possibly be linked to the special but fears were soon cast aside when the BBC released an updated promo shot showing his full shoulder.
