Julia Roberts: I've risked my career by not having cosmetic surgery

Julia Roberts has stepped into the controversy over the pressures on women in Hollywood by claiming she may have risked her career by opting not to undergo a facelift.

The Oscar-winning actor, 46, made the comments in an interview with You Magazine to promote her role as a beauty ambassador with Lancome.

"By Hollywood standards, I guess I’ve already taken a big risk in not having had a facelift," she said. "But I’ve told Lancome that I want to be an ageing model – so they have to keep me for at least five more years until I’m over 50."

Roberts, whose comments came in the wake of a media furore over 45-year-old Renée Zellweger’s new look, said she had found peace in middle age by "studying yoga on a more conscious level" and removing the clutter from her life.
