The Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) confirmed the agenda of the spring session at the meeting held in Paris on March 10, SIA reports quoting AzerTAc state agency. On April 11-15 the agenda will be confirmed on the first day of the session.
The judges to the European Court of Human Rights from France, Norway and Switzerland will be elected, high-ranking religious figures from Romania, Vatican, Turkey, Russia and Germany will address the session, honoring of commitments by Georgia, education against violence at school will be discussed on April 12.
Combating poverty, threat posed to democracy and human rights, challenge to the EU Eastern Partnership on economic development and governance in Eastern Europe, death penalty in the Council of Europe member states and observers of the Council of Europe, improvement of the mechanism on combating torture in Europe, water – a source of conflict will be discussed in the following days.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland and President of the International Commission against the Death Penalty Federico Mayor Zaragoza will address the session. The agenda of the PACE spring session does not contain an issue on Azerbaijan.
