Spyros Kouvelis: “Caspian has a strategic significant for Greece and Azerbaijan play a key role in the region”
"Caspian has a strategic significant for Greece and Azerbaijan play a key role in the region. The relations between our countries are sincere and firm" said the Greek Deputy Foreign Minister, Chairman of intergovernmental commission Spyros Kouvelis at the meeting of Azerbaijan-Greece joint commission on economy, industry and technology fields.
Speaking about cooperation opportunities between two countries Kouvelis said that: "We have a lot of opportunity to increase the volume of bilateral trade turnover between our countries.
Energy sector in our cooperation plays a significant role. We expect Azerbaijan to be main gas exporter of Greece. At the same time, we hope that our country will export important gas to Italy via Turkey-Greece-Italy merging pipeline, as well as to Bulgaria via Greece-Bulgaria gas pipeline, to create condition or construction of Greece-Italy and Greece-Bulgaria pipelines. Construction of these pipelines will create opportunity for Azerbaijan to export the gas to European countries, particularly South-Eastern European countries.
