"The main purpose of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ visit to Baku is to introduce the newly-appointed French Co-Chair Pierre Andrieux to the President of Azerbaijan" said the French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Meunier.
The ambassador told that he knows the new Co-Chair too well: "We met 20 years ago. He was my deputy while I was working as a diplomat in China. He has then worked in Moscow and as an ambassador in Tajikistan and Moldova afterwards. Therefore, he knows the former Soviet Union countries very well".
According to the Pascal Meunier, Jacques Faure will remain in the Co-Chair position till mid-June, and untill then Pierre Andrieux will be accompanying him in visits.
Commented on the recent ceasefire violations on the front line, Meunier said that he is seriously concerned about what’s going on: "But I don’t believe this situation could have a negative influence on French investors and cause them to lose interest in Azerbaijan. The French people begin to better know Azerbaijan day after day. And the interest is rising even more. We remain loyal to the acquisition of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and are trying to create grounds for the two countries to live in in peace, not war".
