The shocking statement came from an Azerbaijani fighter nicknamed Furqan Azeri and published by Mujahideen’s websites.
The author says they have addressed to the muslims of Azerbaijan as well as honest, just persons in response to what imam of Abu Bakr mosque Gamet Suleymanov told about Azerbaijanis fighting in Syria.
The addressing says as follows:
"We are spreading this letter against those who slander Azerbaijani mujahids fighting against Persian-Armenian-Russian tyrants to protect muslims that are bitterly groaning in pain.
O Muslims, If a couple of animals are hurt somewhere or a couple of trees are sawn off, the entire world and all organizations would stand against it and feel pity. Take a look at what’s happening in Syria: About 150,000 citizens, 14,000 of whom were children and 10,000 women, were killed, about 250,000 people were imprisoned by Bashar Assad forces, and 80,000 people are still missing. These all are not a secret to the world. Or what? Aren't Bashar Assad and his family tyrant? Aren't the people of Syria oppressed and helpless? What about the rights of brotherhood? Do the rights of brotherhood merely mean to visit one another’s house on holidays, eat sweets and have fun?
O Muslims and so-called patriots, don’t you know that the Armenians who are fighting on Assad’s side today fought in Karabakh back in the 1990s and were widely engaged in committing Khojaly genocide? Don’t you know that these [the Armenians] are the enemy of the Turks and that their tie with Assad dates back to that time? Is there a need to remind of the fact that Iran, one of the closest friends of Armenia, is committing massacre here in Syria?

Scholars, Muslims as well as independent, proud, and honorable persons around the world don’t keep silent about this oppression. We also defend the Muslim population of Syria.
O Muslims, know that our hearts have always been aching for Karabakh. Karabakh has a special place in our hearts. If you have a look at history, you would see that we have been on the front lines in the Karabakh War.
Please, don’t let Persian spies deceive you. And don’t forget how South Azerbaijan was invaded by Iran and the injustice they committed. Don’t believe them, history is apparent. These [the Persians] have always felt hatred toward Muslims and the Turkish world. After all, we acknowledge that amongst Muslims there are certain individuals who harm Islam from inside, expel everyone from religion, consider shedding the Muslim blood permissible, and are ignorant and Khawarij-minded. You also know that men of this kind exist in the most developed communities as well. However, it’s an exception. Therefore, putting everyone on the same scales is unjust."
