Members of Azerbaijani and Turkish communities in Botkirka district of Sweden's capital have held a protest action against the construction of a monument to 1915's so-called ‘Armenian genocide'.
The relevant proposal brought forth by Suryani, Assyrian and Armenian communities was introduced for a vote in the assembly of the Borkirka municipality a couple of days ago, SIA reported.
Despite the protests, the municipality assembly took a decision to build the monument.
Eight of the nine parties represented in the assembly voted for the proposal. Fifty four of the municipality members voted for the proposal while five of them voted against it.
Botkirka district with a population of 87,400 is a home to 10,000 Turks.
