Ministry of Education warns universities of fake diplomas

"Prosecutor General’s Office is currently carrying out an investigation on fake diplomas exposed at Ganja branch of Azerbaijan Teachers Institute. Following the investigation, the Prosecutor General’s Office will give detailed information about it," Deputy Minister of Education Jeyhun Bayramov told SIA.

Inspections are constantly conducted at universities. If any other negative fact of this kind is discovered at any university, rigorous measures will be taken, the deputy minister said.

"No special inspection is being performed at the moment. The investigation on fake diplomas is underway as well, while the quality of education is being checked.

Clarifying the issue of transition into twelve-year education in Azerbaijan, Bayramov noted that this issue is reflected in the "State Strategy for Education Development in Azerbaijan": "Twelve-year education is one of the goals of the strategy. At present, an action plan is being worked out for the strategy and then appropriate state programs will be adopted. If the state program will be adopted on transition to twelve-year education, the details will be reported in this regard. It is too early to talk about from what class the transition to twelve-year education will begin," he stressed.
