President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today been awarded Man of the Year 2013 by Fund of National Hero Chingiz Mustafayev and ANS Group of Companies.
Expressing his gratitude for the high prize, President Ilham Aliyev said he will continue to work to develop the country further.
"Such a high appreciation from you encourages me even more," the President said recalling that ANS is the first independent TV station in Azerbaijan and stressed its role in development of a free journalism in Azerbaijan.
Later, the President received the award. He said he will donate the prize money to the Fund of the Armed Forces and that the watch which he received as a gift will be kept in a museum.
The Azerbaijani President said 2013 was indeed very successful, that ASAN xidmət was created at the start of the year and that this service is a part of measures to fight corruption and bribe. Saying that singing of a final investment decision on Shah Deniz 2 marked a good end of 2013, the President added that this will ensure political and economic interests of the country.
Aliyev described the launch of Azerspace-1 satellite into orbit as one of important events in 2013 and noted that the satellite is already being managed by Azerbaijani experts.
He also talked about the important role media plays in people's lives and that there are all important freedoms in Azerbaijan.
ANS will contribute to development of independent journalism in future as well, Aliyev continued.
The year 2014 will also prove as successful for Azerbaijan, Aliyev assured.
