President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has issued an order on additional measures to strengthen social protection of journalists. The preamble of the document says that creation of more safe conditions for the effective functioning of the mass media is one of the urgent issues of the state, as Azerbaijan is developing dynamically, the democratization process is gradually deepening and all spheres of social life are updated. SIA reports that the amount of state aid allocated to the national media in recent years was significantly increased, editorial offices and individual journalist projects were supported and successive measures were taken to strengthen social protection of journalists. 17-storey building with 156 apartments was constructed for journalist under the order #1041 of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On measures to strengthen the social protection of Azerbaijani journalists" dated 22 July 2010.
