Azerbaijani embassy in the United States has organized a reception in Washington to mark 95th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
The event brought together high-ranking officials from the US presidential office, a number of Congress members, representatives of the US army, diplomatic missions accredited in the US including those belonging to Azerbaijan, Turkey and also Jewish community, the Azerbaijani embassy in the US said.
Argentine singer Maria Entragus sang national anthems of Azerbaijan and United States at the opening of the event. Addressing the ceremony, Azerbaijani ambassador to US Elin Suleymanov greeted the guests and gave insight on ADR’s role in restoring statehood traditions of the country.
Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs of the US Department of State Carlos Pascual, co-chairman of Azerbaijan-US friendship group in the US Congress, Congressman Steve Cohen and congressman Dana Rohrabacher also addressed the event.
Then head of the secretariat for protocol and international relations of Washington mayor’s office Patricia Elvud read out a congratulatory declaration by Mayor Vincent Gray.\
