"The European Union supports development of green economy and alternative sources of energy in Azerbaijan", Federico Bern, the EU representation’s officer stated at the meeting titled "Covenant of Mayors - East" underway in Baku.
Noting that Azerbaijan has made progress in the field of environmental protection, Federico Bern said: "In the framework of the Kyoto Protocol, Azerbaijan halved the emissions of hydrocarbons, joined nearly 20 agreements on environmental protection, implementing projects to improve the quality of drinking water."
