Flights to such areas can be operated only with the permission of Azerbaijan, First Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijani Parliament says.
"We have repeatedly stated that illegal flights in the territory of Azerbaijan are prevented in line with the Convention on International Civil Aviation Association (ICAO) (Chicago Convention December 7, 1944) and implementation of the provisions of Azerbaijani law on aviation", the First Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov told journalists.
Asgarov said that aircrafts of any foreign state flying through the airspace of Azerbaijan without the country's permission would be shot down by the air defense forces: "This is an unequivocal decision, and we have repeatedly announced it".
Asgarov noted that the matter is about the flights to the unrecognized areas: "Thus, Armenian civil aircrafts are operating flights through the airspace of Azerbaijan today. Azerbaijani civil aircrafts are simultaneously operating such flights. This procedure is regulated by international laws and conventions. I reiterate that the matter is about the flights to unrecognized areas. They should be distinguished from each other. Flights to such areas can be operated only with the permission of Azerbaijan. However, Azerbaijan may consider it after the liberation of the occupied territories."
