In seven years Azerbaijan’s Defence Industry Ministry opened nearly 45 new producing areas.
The statement came from Minister of Defence Industry of Azerbaijan Yaver Jamalov speaking at the Martyrs’ Alley.
He said the number of military production in Azerbaijan has reached 700.
"Of them 400 is the production of military nature, the rest 300-of civil and dual nature. During the participation in the arms exhibition in Indonesia, production of Azerbaijan’s Defence Industry Ministry caused a great interest among representatives of different countries of the world", he said.
The minister noted that the production of new sniper rifle of 23mm caliber will start in Azerbaijan in the first half of 2013.
"Production of 20-mm shells for armored technique is being held successfully and Azerbaijan will be able to fully ensure its demand in this ammunition. The work over creation of armored intelligence vehicles, mobile reactive shells is successful. The works on increased the range of fire visibility from mine launchers produced in Azerbaijan are also successful", Jamalov said.
Commenting on accusations of Armenian side that most of the military production of Azerbaijan copy foreign samples, the minister said that it is a libel and lie which should be ignored.
