Armenian leadership avoids talks due to their weakness - Official

Armenia continues the adventurist, ineffective policy for the past 20 years.

The statement came from deputy chief of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, chief of the foreign relations department Novruz Mammadov.

"Armenia is today politically and economically bankrupted and it is its leaders who have led this country to this. The international community and Armenian people realize it. All steps of the Armenian leaders are aimed solely at retaining powers by any means", Mammadov said.

He believes that despite certain aid from abroad, it won help Armenia which is in a poor state.

Mammadov did not exclude that the position of the Armenian leadership is affected by the presidential elections in this country.

"You see, before elections, different absurd ideas come to their minds to attract the electorate. However, I think that now they are really doomed, since every action will lead to worsening of the situation", Mammadov said.

The deputy chief of the presidential administration of Azerbaijan noted that in this view the Armenian authorities avoid any talks and meetings on Karabakh settlement.

"Armenian leadership avoids talks due to their weakness and absence of arguments. But it is impossible to avoid all the time and one day they will still have to return to the negotiation table. The continuation of such a policy leads Armenia right to a disaster. Let’s see how they are going to explain it after elections", Mammadov said.
