The problem regarding social insurance of journalists has not been solved yet, because there is no precise information about the number of journalists operating in editorial offices in Azerbaijan.
Chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov has told the statement to conference "From traditional Media to On-line media", held within the joint Program of the European Union and Council of Europe by the UK Embassy in Azerbaijan and OSCE Baku Office.
Not observing requirement of contract and also lack of contract between employer and employee prevents the settlement of this problem. This problem will not be solved as long as the number of journalists operating in the Azerbaijani media is not defined.
Amashov noted that in Azerbaijan, there are currently 40 daily, nearly 200 internet newspapers, 9 TV, 1 satellite TV, 14 regional TVs, 14 radio, nearly 20 internet radio and nearly 40 news portal.
