Aim of the diplomats constitutes interference in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan- Ziyafat Asgarov
The first deputy chairman of Azerbaijan's parliament has accused foreign diplomats of seeking to foment instability by meeting opposition leaders.

"Why do diplomats working in Azerbaijan meet forces seeking to disrupt stability rather than refugees or internally displaced people? So, the purpose is to encourage these forces," Ziyafat Asgarov said.

"Diplomats have the right to meet anyone. But if the diplomats speak about the violation of socio-political stability in Azerbaijan it does not correspond to their status and goes beyond ethics," Asgarov said, commenting on a meeting of diplomats working in Azerbaijan with the members of the Coordination Council of the opposition Public Chamber.

"In general, such questions are envisaged in the convention on the activities of diplomatic missions. We don’t regard it as a tragedy. Diplomats can meet and talk with anyone. But why do they meet only these people? They don’t meet people from other categories. I would like these diplomats to meet refugees and internally displaced people," Asgarov said.

Following his attempt at nonchalance, Asgarov went on to say that he would not remain indifferent.

"That’s why I am addressing the representatives of the embassies in Azerbaijan: if such meetings aim at violating socio-political stability, this constitutes interference in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan," he said.
