'The Ministry of National Security is properly fulfilling the tasks regarding intelligence, counterintelligence, struggle against terrorism and transnational organized crimes, provision of information security,' Minister of National Security, Major-General Ali Shafiyev said at the scientific-practical conference on the theme "The role of the youth in the maintenance of our national security" held at Azerbaijan’s State Architecture and Construction University.
Deputy Minister said work is being done together with other government agencies towards recognition of Armenia as an aggressor state, disclosure of the Armenian terror.'As a result of the complex measures taken by the ministry last year, the terrorist attacks against the sovereignty and state security of the Azerbaijan Republic were successfully prevented.A group of persons having links to the foreign intelligence agencies, and preparing terrorist attacks against the foreigners in Baku was rendered harmless in January. Several wanted citizens of Azerbaijan, who were involved in the army units against the coalition forces in Pakistan and Afghanistan, were detained and made accountable,' Ali Shafiyev said.
